How to create an account?
Go to: https://portal.backit365.com to create your account. You will receive a confirmation per e-mail within 5 minutes.
How to add an Office 365 organization?
In the Back-IT 365 portal menu go to Organizations > List Organizations > Add New Organization.
From here you can add an Office 365 organization.
Before you continue please make sure you provide the right permissions.
Please use this guide for the required permissions set by Veeam.
Select Region: <Select Office 365 region>
Username: <Office 365 Admin username>
Password: <Office 365 Admin password>
Process all mailboxes: <Select yes/no>
Process all SharePoint Sites: <Select yes/no>
Finish by clicking on the ”Add Office 365 Organization” button
Possible error: Office 365 user does not have the right permissions.
Please use this guide for the required permissions set by Veeam.
How to add an automatic backup job?
In the Back-IT 365 portal menu go to Organizations > List Organizations > Select the organization you want to create a backup job for. From here you can add a new backup job by following the next steps.
Job Name: Fill in your desired job name
Job Description: Fill in your desired job description
Auto Protect Organization: Select On/Off
*Please note: turning this option on will auto protect all new accounts.
Backup Retention: Select 7 Years
Backup Time: Choose your desired daily backup time
Your backup job will appear in the “list backup jobs” menu. You might need to start the initial backup job manually.
Depending on the total amount of data, the initial backup job might take some time to complete.
Good job, your backup job is set!
Please note: do not start restore sessions within an organization while backup jobs are running. This will show an incomplete overview.
How to start a restore session?
In the Back-IT 365 portal menu go to ‘Start Restore Session’ and follow the 3 steps to start a restore session.
Step 1:
Select Organization: <Select the organization> here you will find each organization you manage.
Step 2:
Select Backup Job: <Select the backup job> here you will find the backup jobs you have created for the organization.
Step 3:
Select Restore Point: <Select your desired restore point> here you will find each daily backup.
What would you like to restore: <Select Mail, OneDrive or SharePoint>
You have successfully started a restore session. Please continue to the next step to see how to restore item(s).
How to restore item(s)?
After you have started a restore session you enter the restore suite for Exchange, OneDrive or Sharepoint.
Restore Exchange item(s)
In the restore suite for Exchange you can see the user mailboxes in the left panel.
First select one of the mailboxes in the left panel, the sub-maps will now appear.
Select a sub-map, the content will now appear in the right panel.
Try using the search function to search for items.
You can select the entire mailbox, a sub-map, calender or email items.
You now have multiple restore options:
- Restore to Exchange
- Restore to .MSG
- Restore to .PST
Select your desired restore option and the item(s) will be restored.
Restore OneDrive item(s)
In the restore suite for OneDrive you can see the users in the left panel.
First select one of the users in the left panel, the sub-maps will now appear.
Select a sub-map, the content will now appear in the right panel.
Try using the search function to search for items.
You now have multiple restore options:
- Restore to OneDrive
- Restore to .ZIP
- Restore to filetype
Select your desired restore option and the item(s) will be restored.
Restore Sharepoint item(s)
In the restore suite for SharePoint you can see the users in the left panel.

Select a sub-map, the content will now appear in the right panel.
Try using the search function to search for items.

Select your desired restore option and the item(s) will be restored.
What is the retention period?
Back-IT 365 comes with 7 year retention. That means every item in the last 7 years will be taken into backup. Please read this guide to understand the Veeam retention policy.
How to look up your invoices?
In the Back-IT 365 portal menu navigate to billing.
How granular is the restore?
Back-IT 365 comes with the following granularity for Exchange, OneDrive and Sharepoint. Please note that we continuously improve our services and therefore add more granularity with each update.
Granularity for Exchange
- Entire mailboxes

- Single email items

- OneDrive items

What is the backup interval?
The default backup interval is once per 24 hours. You can choose the desired backup time for each backup job individually.
